Howard Henderson, Ph.D.

Dr. Howard Henderson is an Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in the Department of the Administration of Justice. His research interests include psychometric behavioral assessment of offenders and criminal justice program evaluation. His recent research has appeared in such journals as Criminal Justice and Behavior, Criminal Justice Review, Black Studies, The Prison Journal, Race and Justice, and the Criminal Justice Policy Review. Howard is currently working on a National Science Foundation-funded research project with the Baylor College of Medicine’s Initiative on Neuroscience and Law which seeks to determine offender decision-making characteristics through a range of cognitive traits.  He recently evaluated the Jefferson County Juvenile Probation Department and the Ben’s Kid mentoring program by  testing the effect of mentoring on a group of randomly assigned juvenile probationers. Dr. Henderson serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Criminal Justice and Law Review and as regular reviewer for host of scholarly journals.  From 2006-2010, he served as a member of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Multidisciplinary Advisory Board overseeing the U.S. Department of Justice – U.S. Department of Labor’s Prison Reentry Initiative (PRI) Grant.  Dr. Henderson is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
